Abstract
Multidatabase integration and interoperation facilitates the development of advanced applications built on top of heterogeneous database management systems (DBMSs). In this paper, we describe an extensible view system, the Zeus View System (ZVS), that supports multidatabase integration and interoperation. Our approach is based on multiple levels of abstraction through the notion of views. The ZVS has an innovative design that uses the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) as the infrastructure for distributed object management. The ZVS is prototyped in a large-scale distributed computing environment. Our experience with the implementation of the prototype is presented.
