Abstract
Traditional interfaces to information retrieval systems present information about a limited number of individual documents, but do not present information about the relationships among the documents. Nor do they encourage browsing through a wider range of documents within the database. We present two graphical interfaces, GUIDO and VIBE, that allow multiple simultaneous views of many documents, show the structural relationships among the documents, and actively encourage browsing over a wide range of documents.
