Abstract
This survey presents the most important quality and quality-related fields providing national and EC support for the development of these areas with the aim to meet the requirements of the European Union. The content of the survey focuses mainly on the contribution of the Central Technological Development Fund to this purpose. The development achieved both in the R&D and quality fields show a close (inter)relation between innovation, technology development and quality. The national initiatives and by now also the first national EU/PHARE Quality Assurance Program are handling the quality problems in a complex way, with regard to the harmony between the objectives of the government and the business world as well as to the modernisation of the economy.
