Abstract
It would appear that the classical vision of society and man which only recognizes determinisms and determinations is obsolete. The traditional ideas of autonomy, responsibility, and liberty which derive from our ‘subjective’ or existential experience must be modified. A new ‘science of autonomy’, with origins in biology and shaped by Cybernetics and Systems Theory, must be developed.
