Abstract
The article discusses some of the issues for the information sector raised by the European Commission's proposals for the establishment of a European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning. It outlines the proposals, and puts them briefly in the context of the organisational and personal benefits of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). It discusses the different kinds of CPD, their availability and accreditation, and the need for a greater commitment to embedding a lifelong learning culture in the information sector.
