Abstract
The Institut Universitaire de Technologic of the Toulouse University of sciences (France) started in the 1993–1994 academic year a new educational programme for multi-lingual information officers which complies with the regulations of the national standard curriculum applicable to the departments of information and documentation. This new development, which involves general and technical courses given in French and in foreign languages, aims to provide a professional education to information officers who should be able to take up positions and quickly become effective in organizations with an international activity in France or in other countries of the European Union.
