Abstract
The impetus given to computer education in library and information work by the extent and nature of the penetration of the information world by minicomputers and microcomputers is discussed. Educational requirements and problems are outlined and solutions proposed. The use of microcomputers as tools in education and training is examined with reference to their contribution to pre-professional education, professional training courses, and in-service staff training. Research and development in the U.K. is described.
