Abstract
A short-term study was commissioned by the British Library Research and Development Department to investigate current levels of satisfaction with training provision in the Information Management/Information Technology area. The views of employers in institutional library settings, in industry and commerce, and in the information industry were gathered via interviews. The findings of the survey strongly suggest that new initiatives are required: specifically that consideration be given to the possibility of setting up a distance learning scheme using the latest educational support technologies.
