Abstract
This paper describes a librarianship course taken by trainee teachers at the Kenya Science Teachers College (KSTC). It argues the importance of libraries in the fight against illiteracy and the role of the school in introducing children to books. Schools should therefore include trained and qualified librarians. It also describes the course on School Librarianship at KSTC.
