Abstract

The increased aggregation of red blood cells seen in vitro with contrast media probably is of very little, if any, clinical importance. Of more importance is, however, the rheological changes which might be induced during a bolus injection due to rigidification of red blood cells which might change the possibility of red blood cells to pass through capillaries in the micro circulation.
