Abstract
The flow properties of whole blood and plasma were examined at low shearing stresses with a capillary viscometer. These measurements indicate that at very low shearing stress (0.5 dyn/cm2) whole blood has Newtonian flow characteristics but the plasma still exhibits non-Newtonian behavior. Utilizing this region of Newtonian flow along with the region that exists at high shearing stresses, it appears that the flow can be described with a one parameter equation.
