Abstract
Venturi scrubbers are devices where particle-laden gas (air) is cleaned of particles by capture on water drops. A high relative velocity at throat between drops and particles moving with gas enhances capture of particles. The present model estimates penetration (fraction of un-collected particles) of small particles (less than 3 mm) in intermediate drop Reynolds number (1 < ReD < 1000). In this model of venturi scrubber where intermediate drop Reynolds number effects are accounted for show reasonably good agreement with available experimental data. Venturi scrubber is found to be effective in capture of such small particles at high throat gas velocities (80 m/s and higher).
