Abstract
An important further development of model-based diagnosis systems are diagnosis/repair systems. These systems view the repair of a faulty system as the ultimate goal and therefore couple diagnosis tightly with repair in order to reduce the overall problem solving costs. In addition, such systems integrate the fields of diagnosis and planning representing two important areas of Artificial Intelligence.
This paper describes the approach by Friedrich, Gottlob, and Nejdl in detail and surveys all major contributions to the area of diagnosis/repair systems.
