Abstract
ECCAI, the European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence, is the legitimate representative body of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Europe. ECCAI has, among many other things, initiated the foundation of an AI-periodical which has finally been realised. This first issue's publication appears to be a suitable occasion for a brief review of ECCAI's role from the viewpoint of the past Chairman of ECCAI.
