Synthesis and Characterisation of Hg (II) and Ag (I) Complexes of 4-Fluorobenzoylmethylenetriphenylphosphorane and 4-chlorobenzoyl methylenetriphenylphosphorane,with Spectroscopic Studies
4-flourobenzyloxymethylenetriphenylphosphorane ylide [Ph3PCHCOC6H4F], (FBPPY), and 4-chlorobenzyloxymethylenetriphenylphosphorane ylide [Ph3PCHCOC6H4Cl],(CBPPY), have been synthesised. The reactions of the title ylides with HgX2 (X =Cl,I) in equimolar ratios using dry acetone as solvent, have yielded [{HgCl2(FBPPY)}2](1), [{HgI2(FBPPY)}2](2), [{HgCl2(CBPPY)}2](3) and [{HgI2 (CBPPY)}2](4) respectively. The reactions of the title ylides with AgNO3 in molar ratios (2:1) using dry acetone as solvent have yielded [Ag(FBPPY)2]NO3(5) and [Ag(CBPPY)2]NO3(6). The analytical data, IR and 1H and 31P NMR data of the products were obtained.
