Carbamoyl Methyl Sulfoxide Compounds of Lanthanum (III) Nitrate. Crystal and Molecular Structure of [La(NO 3 ) 3 {C 6 H 5 SOCH 2 CON(C 4 H 9 ) 2 } 2 ]

Abstract

Carbamoyl methyl sulfoxide compounds of lanthanum (III) nitrate of the type [La(NO₃)₃L₂] (where L = C₆H₅SOCH₂CON(ⁱC₃H₇)₂, C₆H₅SOCH₂CON(C₄H₉)₂ C₆H₅SOCH₂CON(ⁱC₄H₉)₂) have been synthesised and characterised. The structure of the compound [La(NO₃)₃(C₆H₅SOCH₂CON(C₄H₉)₂)₂] shows that the C₆H₅SOCH₂CON(C₄H₉)₂ bonds through both the sulfoxo and carbamoyl oxygen atoms to the lanthanum(III) nitrate and acts as a bidentate chelating ligand.
