Abstract
The synthesis of a new tripodal ligand based on a thiophene ring is reported. The complexation properties of this compound towards bivalent metal ions (Hg2+, Cd2+, Pb2+, Cu2+, Zn2+) and alkaline metal ions (Li+, Na+, K+) has been studied by a liquid–liquid extraction process and the extracted cation percentage was determined by atomic absorption measurements.
