The new cluster [NiRuW(CO)5(μ3-S)(η5 –C5H5)(η5 –C5H4COCH3)] 2 was isolated from the reaction of [CoRuW(CO)8(μ3-S) (η5 –C5H4COCH3)] 1 with NiCp2. Through the further reaction of cluster 2 with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine, a new cluster [NiRuW(CO)5(μ3-S)(η5 –C5H5)(η5 –C5H4C(NNH-C6H3-2,4-(NO2)2)CH3)] 3 was obtained and the structure of cluster 2 has been established using single crystal X-ray diffraction method.
