Abstract
A number of chiral trioxabicyclo[4.4.0]decanes and boratrioxabicyclo[4.4.0]decanes have been prepared. The mesogenic properties of these compounds have been studied. They show short cholesteric pitch, blue phases and TGBA phases depending on the chain length of the n-alkyl substituent, with quite large differences between the trioxa- and the boratrioxaderivatives.
