The reaction of 3-t-butyl-2-hydroxy-5-methoxybenzaldehyde 6 with acetylacetone resulted in the formation of an unusual product, 1-[8-(t-butyl)-6-methoxy-2H-chromem-2-ylidene] acetone 4.
