Abstract
Alkylidene sulfones were prepared in moderate to good yields via direct alkylidenating reaction of ketones with geminal dibromomethyl sulfones promoted by the Sm/SmI2 system in the presence of a catalytic amount of TiCl4 under mild conditions.
