Summary
1) A high correlation was observed between pigmentation, bound coagulase and sensitivity to typing phages in staphylococcal strains freshly isolated from routine clinical hospital specimens. 2) A simple method for determining phage sensitivity using a pool of 3 undiluted typing phages is described and possible applications are discussed.
