Summary
Activation of purified prothrombin in 25% sodium citrate solution can be inhibited by use of a small amount of serum or plasma or barium carbonate eluate. It is postulated that plasma and serum contain an inhibitor(s) that can retard autocatalytic activation of prothrombin.
