Summary
Ergotoxine methanesulphonate was tested on adult spayed, and immature intact rats, for estrogenic and gonadotrophic activity. None was found. The action of ergotoxine with respect to terminating early pregnancy and pseudopregnancy cannot be explained on the basis of estrogenic activity in ergotoxine.
