Summary
Fluorescent antibody studies show that the virus of canine distemper is localized in astrocytic and possibly other glial nuclei. The astrocytes exhibit degenerative changes consistent with viral invasion. Astrocytic involvement appears to be followed by demyelination although this causative relationship cannot be explained.
