Summary

The data indicate therefore that somewhat more than 50% of the total acetylcholinesterase in crab nerve lies outside the barrier to quaternary ammonium compounds. The role of this large quantity of enzyme remains obscure at present since Wilson and Cohen(l) have shown that inhibition of the “external” enzyme does not prevent nervous conduction.
