Abstract
Summary
Large variations in the MF of freshly drawn samples of defibrinated, oxalated or heparinized dog blood are encountered unless the samples are allowed to stand for several hours at room temperature. However, reproducible and apparently physiologically significant measurements of the MF of dog red cells can be obtained if the red cells are washed free of plasma and suspended in isotonic saline during their exposure to the standard trauma of rotation with glass beads.
