Abstract
Summary
The salivary glands of rats and mice contain arginase activity. The activity of this enzyme in the submaxillary and sublingual glands of castrated rats was decreased only after prolonged treatment with androgens. The activity in the glands of the mouse, however, were readily decreased by a large number of C19 steroids. Thyroxine had no influence on the arginase activity of the salivary glands of the rat.
