Abstract
Summary
The action of the bacterial enzyme thromboplastinase on thromboplastically active lipid material has been presented. In all cases, loss in clotting potency was accompanied by a liberation of acid soluble organic phosphorus. A still unidentified phosphorus containing compound has been isolated from the reaction mixture after TPase action. The results are discussed and several possible implications presented.
