Abstract
Summary
1. Ability of thyroid slices to incorporate inorganic phosphate into organic phosphorus compounds is comparable to that of kidney and liver. Homogenization of the thyroid tissue before incubation prevents this synthesis. 2. A study has been made of the effect of azide, thiocyanate, iodide and thyroxine on the in vitro phosphorus metabolism of the thyroid. Except in the case of azide, where a general depression of phosphorus metabolism occurred, no positive correlation was found.
