Summary
The Saukett strain of poliomyelitis virus was successfully carried serially through 10 Syrian hamster brain passages. The disease in hamsters was characterized by symptoms of irritability and malaise, followed by paralysis. Hamsters typically affected did not recover. These passages are being continued at the present time.
