Summary
An assay technic has been developed for titrating PR8 influenza A virus infectivity on preparations of chorioallantoic membranes removed from chicken embryos. This technic is simpler and less laborious than the standard assay method involving the use of chicken embryos. It is comparable in accuracy to the embryo technic although appreciably less sensitive. Evidence is submitted to show that both technics measure the same infectious entity.
