Summary
1. Topical protection against hyperergic inflammation by a preceding local inflammation, and topical protection against thermal injury by a preceding local thermal irritation can be demonstrated even in rats adrenalectomized before pre-irritation. 2. Acquired topical protection, therefore, is not likely to depend upon the topical extravasation of antiphlogistic corticosteroids into preinflamed areas.
