Summary

Vit. B₁₂ activity of whole blood and plasma from the human, dog, calf, rabbit, chicken and alligator was studied before and after alkaline hydrolysis. The data show a wide variation of blood and plasma vit. B₁₂ content between the different species. In mammals, the vitamin is almost equally distributed between the erythrocytes and plasma. In chicken and alligator, the major portion of the vitamin activity is associated with the nucleated erythrocyte.
