Abstract
Summary
Mixed infection with the viruses of influenza A and Newcastle disease virus was found to result in the formation of some particles which had antigenically mixed surfaces, i.e., which contained components from both parent types. The phenotypic change was transitory and did not appear in the progeny of such a particle. It is suggested that this phenomenon is due to phenotypic mixing.
