Abstract
Summary
1. Disseminated muscular necrosis following experimental nephropathy in albino rats maintained on complete rations, was not beneficially influenced by the presence of excessive amounts of alpha-tocopherol. On the contrary, this drug appeared responsible for a higher incidence of advanced lesions in the aorta, coronary arteries, and stomach. 2. Concomitant renal hypertension was not alleviated by the presence of alpha-tocopherol in excess. In normotensive rats large dosages of this compound may induce moderate hypertension.
