Summary
The induction of hemorrhagic shock in the rat is accompanied by 1) no change in dipeptidase activity of extracted or surviving diaphragm; and 2) a significant increase in net protein catabolism of surviving; diaphragm. Evidence is presented indicating that isolated diaphragms from shocked animals undergo some degree of “recovery” when exposed to an oxygen atmosphere.
