Summary
The water-soluble fraction of Candicidin has been shown to have strong anti-fungal activity in vitro against the major fungus pathogens of man with the exception of C. immitis and the ringworm fungi. Candicidin was found to be fungicidal as well as fungistatic. This antibiotic protected mice infected with C . albicans, B . dermatitidis, and S. schenckii. Candicidin had only a partial protective effect on torulosis and histoplasmosis of mice
