Abstract
Summary
In the hereditary obese hyperglycemic syndrome of mice, radioactive iodine uptake is normal. Similarly, the anoxia test reveals no difference in dependence on oxygen tension between obese and non-obese mice. The significance of these findings is discussed with respect to the etiology of the syndrome, and to the extension of the concept of basal metabolic rate to obese animals.
