Abstract
Summary
A 5- to 10-fold increase was noted in the yeast population of the intestinal contents of turkey poults when they were fed a ration containing streptomycin. When the yeasts were isolated and fed to other poults and chicks there was no consistent increase in growth, although very slight increases were noted in some trials. The growth increase observed with the feeding of antibiotics apparently cannot be simulated by feeding the particular strains of yeast isolated.
