Abstract
Summary
Exposure of male guinea pigs to an atmospheric concentration of 170 p.p.m. of ammonia for periods of 6 hours per day, 5 days per week for as long as 12 weeks gave no significant evidence of chronic intoxication. However, such exposure for 18 weeks resulted in relatively mild though definite changes in spleens, kidneys, suprarenal glands, and livers, with severity of the changes being most prominent in spleens and least in livers. Hearts, lungs, stomachs, and small intestines showed no consistent changes suggestive of chronic intoxication.
