Summary
The injection of thorotrast or Angiopac, a colloidal organic iodide preparation, abolishes resistance to the Shwartzman reaction within 30 minutes and for at least 24 hours. Treatment with these materials enhances strikingly the lethal effect of bacterial toxin and animals given thorotrast manifest increased susceptibility to the local injurious effect of intradermally injected toxin.
