Abstract
Summary
The titration endpoints of Brunhilde (type 1), Y-SK (type 2), and Leon (type 3) poliomyelitis viruses were uniformly reproducible in roller tube cultures of testicular tissue from 31 of the 34 monkeys tested. The tissue of approximately 10% of the monkeys tested was “incompletely” susceptible to the poliomyelitis viruses. This insusceptible state could not be attributed to the presence of serum antibody. Testicular tissue obtained from immune monkeys supported growth of all 3 antigenic types of poliomyelitis virus comparable to that obtained in tissue of nonimmune monkeys.
