Abstract
Summary
As determined by changes in the blood fat levels and by recovery of fat from the intestine after an absorptive period, the rate of fat absorption in normal, orally fed rats appears to be unaffected by 6 or 20% supplements of a number of exogenous emulsifiers. The lack of changes in the degree of fat splitting and intestinal motility which could affect fat absorption are in complete agreement with the above finding. The action of lecithin in promoting fat absorption seems best explained by other than its emulsifying action.
