Summary
The conduction block in bullfrog A fibers which is produced by the presence of elevated potassium ions is dependent on the sodium concentration. At a fixed level of potassium the rate of block increases as the sodium concentration is decreased. This occurs at concentrations of sodium which, at normal potassium, have no blocking action.
