Conclusions
(1) Serum cholinesterase activity of normal dogs is approximately one-tenth that of normal human serum as measured by a colorimetric method employing beta-carbonaphthoxy-choline iodide as substrate. (2) No change occurs in the serum cholinesterase activity of dogs during hemorrhagic shock, or during 20 hours of survival after hepatectomy.
