Summary
Under the conditions of these experiments, 11-desoxycortisone (25 mg) lowered the tooth pain threshold, but did not alter the wrist pain threshold, and cortisone (25 mg) did not alter the tooth or wrist pain thresholds. An alteration of the pathophysiologic state initiating pain is suggested as an explanation for the pain relief afforded by cortisone.
