Conclusion
Several characteristic crystal patterns have been observed microscopically in dry smears of pure gastric mucus from canine Heidenhain pouches. Although their chemical composition has not been established, there is reason to believe that they are neither pepsinogen, pepsin, nor one of the mucins.
