Summary
Progressive and usually fatal amebic hepatitis can be induced readily in golden hamsters by the intrahepatic injection of a strain of Endamoeba histolytica and its bacterial associates from cultures. Amebae rather than bacteria appear to constitute the major etiologic agents in producing the hepatitis.
