Abstract
Summary
Evidence is presented which indicates that fibrinogen serves as a buffer or protector substance to Ac-globulin. The removal of fibrinogen from plasma by the addition of thrombin or by freezing and subsequent thawing enhances Ac-globulin activity. The data provide a probable explanation for the conversion of an inactive pro-enzyme accelerator in plasma to an active accelerator in defibrinated plasma and in serum.
